reLAX Lounge

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me in this adventure and for the wonderful birthday wishes!  It really means a lot to me because I feel that you are behind me and encouraging me every step of the way.  I am so fortunate to have friends and family like you!

LAX

I am anxiously awaiting my flight to Sydney.  First I have to get through a 11.5 hour layover in LAX, yikes!  If anyone else has flown from the international terminal at LAX, you feel my pain.  I do not mean to complain, but they really need to add more stores, restaurants, or something to make this more bearable.
At one point, I ventured out of the international terminal to try and see a little bit of LA.  My trip, however, was cut short by a person cussing and throwing things at the people waiting for buses.  I believe he was waiting for the bus I was about to board.  That is when I decided maybe I should go back to the airport.  Call me a wuss but I took people's advice about listening to my gut, and my gut said, maybe next time.
After debating for a while, I gave in and decided to try the reLAX Lounge in the airport.  I didn't know if it was worth payng for sanity and some peace, but it really is.  For $25 I get three hours of free internet, snacks, drinks and a place to rest.  I will post pictures soon.  I should have done this earlier and I definitely recommend this place if you have a long layover in LAX!
I can't wait, Sydney, here I come!

My journey

I am a thirty something woman with a taste for travel and adventure. My will, confidence, trust, and well-being, however, have been tested a lot over the past five years. What I have found over that time has been a heightened sense of empathy and understanding towards others. I have also found that I love whole-heartedly which can be a gift or a detriment. Nothing that anyone could say or do would have prepared me for divorce or what I have gone through and continue to deal with, good and bad. Days have turned into months, and months into years. So as to not fall into the descent of time and allow the spark for fun and adventure to die out, I decided to take my life into my hands and try something new. With a renewed sense of determination along with encouragement of others and reminder of a book that once moved me, I decided to go on a solo journey. This is not just a vacation, it is a journey to find myself again.
After weighing all options, I decided to travel to Australia and New Zealand. These are places I have wanted to see since I was little so what better way to try to understand what is really important to me than to go to a place that reminds me of a simpler time.
I will be posting pictures, comments, and any revelations I have during my journey. Please post your comments on this blog as well. I love to hear from you!
