Southern Right Whale

This is one of the southern right whales near Bruny Island

Bruny Island, south of Hobart

Bruny Island is such a beautiful place, I do not think my pictures capture how pretty it is!

Jess and me

Jess is my friend from Hobart.  She was so great to show me around and take me to this place where I had wallaby pizza and good Tassie wine!!!

Platypus

I saw this platypus in the wild!

Wombat

This female juvenile wombat lost her mom to a car.  She is very cute because she follows the caretakers everywhere they go.

Tasmanian Devil!

This is one of many juvenile Tassie devils that I saw at a rehabilitation park in Tasmania.

Paddymelon

This is a paddymelon (a type of wallaby) I saw near Mt. Field

Looking at Hobart from Mt. Wellington

Hobart is spread out with a population of ~220,000.

Mount Fields, Tasmania

Lower altitudes had rainforest. A ten minute drive to higher altitudes had snow!

Tall Trees Trail in Tasmania

I am standing next to the tree (if you can see me).

Salamenca area in Hobart

Hobart, Tasmania

Things I have learned

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House at night

Sydney from Sydney Tower

Through an observation tower, you can see all of Sydney and beyond.  You can see Darling Harbor.

Wentworth Falls

Wentworth Falls is also found outside of Sydney.

Blue Mountain- Three Sisters

This is part of the Blue Mountain Range.  It gets its name due to the blue mist that is usually seen on the mountains.  According to the guide, this is due to the eucylyptus trees.  On the left of the picture are the "Three Sisters."

Koala...sooo cute!

Unfortunately, I have not seen any koalas in the wild yet.  They are usually only seen at wildlife parks or sanctuaries.

Sydney Harbor YHA

This is the hostel I stayed at.  It is built around an archeological dig site.  It is only a year or so old and is very modern.  It felt more like a hotel than a hostel!
